Santarchy Madison 2007: “We’ll call 9-1-1″

Roughly 50 Santa’s descended on Madison’s Overture Center on Friday night to serenade art and theatre goers with carols. The previous year the Santas found confused, but welcoming patrons, this year they found a tense management team that said:

“Two or three songs but then you have to go.”

and

“We’ll call 9-1-1.”

One of the main rules of Santarchy is to go somewhere where Santa isn’t welcome. In other cities the Santa numbers can reach upwards of 100-500 so this is much easier. Big Tall Santa (the main organizer), Santa Santa, and Bathrobe Santa (me) have already begun plans for making Santarchy 2008 the biggest yet.
